The aircraft arrivals for the 2012 Great Park Air Show took place Friday afternoon and Saturday morning before the air show started.  These arrivals were not open to the general public but AIRSHOWVID.COM was allowed to shoot video of these beautiful aircraft as they arrived before being placed on static display.  Many beautiful general aviation aircraft flew in for static display as well as military aircraft from MCAS Miramar.  World War II aircraft were represented by a C-47 named “D-Day Doll” from the Riverside CAF as well as a pair of AT-6 Texans, a PT-17 and PT-22 trainers.  We would like to thank the Great Park and the airshow staff for working with us and allowing us full access to the aircraft and hot ramp before the airshow started.

Melissa Pemberton and Jon Melby wowed the crowds during the Great Park Air Show as they performed a dual aerobatic routine in the skys above the former El Toro Marine Corps  Airbase.  Jon and Melissa allowed AIRSHOWVID.COM unrestricted access to shoot this video and show you the pilot’s view from Jon Melby’s Pitts S-1-11 as they loop and tumble their aircraft.  Special thanks to Melissa Pemberton and Jon Melby.

The 2012 Great Park Air Show had some impressive pieces of military hardware on display.  We interviewed the people that use this equipment on a daily basis.  We would like to thank the US Coast Guard and United States Marine Corps for the interviews.

Melissa’s air show routine is a high energy and action packed display of Unlimited Aerobatics in the Edge 540 aircraft. Melissa wowed the crowd as she did a roll right after takeoff.  As you will see in the video Melissa pours on the power as she flys gyroscopic maneuvers during her flight demonstration.  The Great Park Airshow crowd was very much into her high energy performance.

Jon Melby was kind enough to give AIRSHOWVID.COM an exclusive interview session after the air show where he talks about how he started flying and how he overcame fear in the cockpit.  We added his words to some in flight video shot during the air show to create a powerful one minute and 37 second positive statement about how to move beyond fear.

Here are a couple of still photos shot during the event by Lisa Plummer.

Wow! The onboard GoPro video cameras did their job well. Felt like I was wing walking on Jon’s Pitts. The video editing was great. The special effects, panning and speed was innovative. Sequencing the onboard clips with the ground clips was precision, and the music dynamics was right on. Setting the musical mood for each exciting aerobatic clip was awe-inspiring. I will definitely be at the air show again next year, but be there earlier to see the fly-ins. I want to see the Cobra and Osprey flying.
