Riverside Municipal Airport, CA
The 2013 Riverside Airshow was held April 6th at the Riverside Municipal Airport and attracted a crowd of 90,000 airshow fans. As with many air shows this year military aircraft were noticeably missing from the flight line. WWII aircraft owned and operated by individuals and organizations filled in for the current military aircraft.
Aerobatic acts carried most of the show with performances from Tim Weber, John Collver, Frank Donnelly and Jon Melby. Silver Wings Wingwalking also provided entertainment as Margi Stivers and Hartley Folstad flew their silver Stearman with Margi on top of the upper wing flying the American flag as a salute to all the veterans in the crowd.
Smoke And Thunder Jet Car raced down the runway against Tim Weber and John Collver, John winning the race in his AT-6 War Dog. The Riverside Police showed off their Hughes 500D helicopter in a flight demonstration.
The warbirds then wowed the 90,000 plus spectators with fly-bys of a P-51 Mustang owned by Dr. Ken Wagner, F8F Bearcat and FM-2 Wildcat operated by the Commemorative Air Force. There was also a five ship AT-6 formation fly-by.

The 2013 Riverside Airshow was a great success this year even with the lack of Military aircraft support from prior years. The proof of that was the near normal turn out of 90,000 airshow fans.
AIRSHOWVID.COM would like to thank the 2013 Riverside Airshow Committee for their support as well as Jon Melby for camera access to his aircraft. We look forward to next year’s event and are keeping our fingers crossed that the Military support returns in 2014.
