The 2012 Cable Air Show kicks off the air show season here in the United States. This small privately owned airport located in Upland CA. offers up close viewing of all the aircraft being displayed and flown during the event. A far reaching choice of small general aviation aircraft and military aircraft can be seen landing just before the airspace around the airport is closed.

One of the BIG hits at this years event was the giant AN-2 biplane owned and flown by Bob Cable himself. This slow moving giant is amazing to see as Bob Cable flies it just above stall speed over the runway. At some point during his flight demonstration you are waiting for this beast to fall out the sky but the AN-2’s very low stall speed prevents this from happening.

Another draw to this airshow are all the aerobatic acts like Rob Harrison AKA The “Tumbling Bear”, Frank Donnelly “DrD’s Ole time Aerobatics”, DOUG JARDINE In his Sbach 342, SAMMY MASON In his 1941 Stearman and CLAY LACY flying his Pilatus Porter .

At noontime classic car drive-bys take over the air show giving aircraft watchers a break to eat all the food vendors have for sale. If you want to take a flight around the airport, rides were available for a fee. The Cable Airshow is a great event to kick off the air show season.
